Raya 2026: Custom Baju Raya & Alterations Open!

A Tale of Threads, Flavours, and Finding My Path

You know, people often ask me, "How did a tailor end up traveling the world and writing about food?" It’s a fair question, and the answer isn't as simple as it seems. It's a story woven together by a love for craftsmanship, an insatiable curiosity for different cultures, and a passion for good food.

I’ve always been fascinated by fabric. As a child, I'd watch my mother mend our family's clothes, her hands moving with a quiet, practiced grace. Each stitch was deliberate, a testament to her skill and care. I learned from her that tailoring isn't just about mending clothes; it's about giving them new life. It's about making something fit just right, turning a piece of fabric into a garment that tells a story.

But as much as I loved the hum of the sewing machine and the feel of silk between my fingers, I also had a burning desire to see the world. I wanted to taste the flavors of different countries, to walk through bustling markets, and to hear the stories of people from all walks of life. I started small, a weekend trip here, a week-long journey there, always with a small sewing kit in my bag. I found myself in a small village in Thailand, helping a local vendor mend a torn bag, and later, on an outlet in Vietnam adjusting the length of a fellow traveller’s shirt.

My passion for travel led me to discover how food, like a well-tailored garment, connects us. In every new place, I found myself drawn to the local cuisine. A bowl of spicy laksa in Penang, a perfectly grilled satay in Bali—each dish was an experience, a memory, just like a custom-made suit. I realized that whether it’s a seam that holds a jacket together or a spice that defines a dish, it's the small, thoughtful details that truly matter.

That’s how The Travelling Tailor was born. It’s a place where I share my adventures—the cultures I experience, the food I savor, and the beautiful clothes and fabrics that I find along the way. My journeys have inspired my craft, showing me that the best designs are often found in the most unexpected places. They've taught me the importance of a perfect fit, not just for a garment, but for a life well-lived.

This year, as we look forward to the vibrant celebrations of Raya 2026, I'm bringing everything I've learned back to you, right here in Selangor. My humble little tailor shop is located conveniently near Puncak Alam, a hub of creativity and community. Here, in the heart of our own vibrant neighborhood, I’ve poured all my experience—from the precision of European tailoring to the rich, bold colors of Southeast Asia—into my work. I want to help you feel confident and comfortable in your Raya outfit, a garment that tells your unique story.
